Self awareness

Self awareness is simply being conscious of your strengths while acknowledging what you still have yet to learn. Includes admitting when you don't have the answers and owning up to mistakes, which can sometimes be painful. But we also cannot deny the fact that whether we acknowledge our weaknesses or not, everyone still sees them.

Self awareness is extremely challenging as it is difficult to see in you what others see so easily. To gain more insights into this, there are four type of self.

Open self: What others know about you and which you know too;
Blind self: What others see about you which you can't see;
Hidden self: What others don't know about you, but you do aka ur secrets.
Unknown self : What others don't know about you and neither do you.

We all have blind spots and if we can learn what they are, we become better leaders. Therefore knowing more of your Open self and shrinking our Blind self and Unknown self - enabling us to be in control of yourself. Constant self awareness is the key to a successful person. Blind self cannot be shrink if we can't listen to others feedback. Self denial is not an effective way to assess your yourself and your life. Acceptance is a first step to move onwards. A person who know their strengths and weaknesses are far more successful than a person who don't. For example, to be a good leader it is important for a leader to be open to negative feedback for improvement in overall being. And you can only be an authentic leader if you build a leadership based on who you are- the distinct personality that makes your leadership unique. Everybody wants to be Mahathir but no one can be Mahathir ;)

Zooming in on your strengths is significantly more beneficial. The secret to being an effective leader is : Knowing your strengths and leveraging it.
